It has a two-cycle engine that burns a mixture of gas and oil and a straight shaft that allows for easy reach in corners and under overhangs. You can use this trimmer with one of four different trimmer heads manufactured by Husqvarna, as well as with a plastic blade attachment for cutting small weeds.
Replacing the trimmer head requires a pin to lock the mounting arbor. The pin comes with the trimmer, and replacements are available from the manufacturer.
Pull off the spark plug boot to prevent an inadvertent start-up and turn the trimmer over so you can access the trimmer head. Stretch your fingers across the top of the cover and depress the tabs located degrees apart on the sides while you lift.
The cover should come right off. Lift out the spool that contains the trimmer string. Insert the lock pin that came with the trimmer to lock the shaft. Set a new head on the shaft, and turn it in the opposite direction to screw it on. Tighten it as much as you can by hand. Pull the strings tight when the spool is seated and snap on the cover. Pull out the locking pin and reattach the spark plug boot. Things You Will Need Locking pin Tips If you install a plastic cutting blade, tighten the locking nut with a socket wrench to hold it.
You can make your trimmer string last longer by soaking it in water for two or more days before installing it. Warning Make sure the string is wound tightly around the spool before you install it.
